Statement of Beliefs

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God, and speaks with final authority concerning all matters of belief and conduct. [John 5:37 – 40; Romans 1:1 – 2; 2 Timothy 3:14 – 17; 2 Peter 1:16 – 21]

   2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and               that He is the Maker of all things, both visible and invisible. [Matthew 3:13 – 17; Matthew 28:18 – 20; 1               Corinthians 12:4 – 6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:1 – 2; Genesis 1 – 2; Isaiah 45:18; Psalm 104; Jeremiah           10:10 – 12; Acts 17:22 – 31]

    3. We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus the Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His                    miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death through His blood shed, in His bodily resurrection, in            His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church and in His                      personal return in power and glory. [Isaiah 9:1 – 7; 53; John 1:1 – 18; Matthew 1; Romans 1:2 – 4;                        Philippians 2:5 – 11; Colossians 1:15 – 20; Hebrews 1:1 – 4; 1 Corinthians 15: 1 – 11]

    4. We believe that lost and sinful individuals are saved through a direct, personal    encounter with the                   risen Lord Jesus Christ, at which time they are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. [Ezekiel 36:25 – 27; John             3:3, 5; 5:1; 1 Corinthians 12:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:5; Colossians 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 1:4 – 5;           2 Thessalonians 2:13; Titus 3:5; James 1:18; 1 Peter 1:3]

    5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whom Christ indwells each  believer, enabling              him or her to live a godly life of obedience towards spiritual maturity and Christ-likeness. [John 14:17;                Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Acts 6:8; Romans 8:4 – 6, 12 – 16; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 3:3, 5;            Galatians 5:22 – 23, 25; Ephesians 2:22; 4:3; Philippians 2:1 – 2]

    6. We believe in the resurrection and judgment of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the          resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation. [Daniel 12:2; 1                         Corinthians 15; 1 Thessalonians 4:13 – 18; Revelation 20:12 – 13; Matthew 12:36; 26:31 – 32; Acts 17:31;             Romans 14:10; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 25: 34, 46; Luke 16:26; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 14:11;           21:6, 8; 22:14, 15; John 14:2; Revelation 21:1 – 3]

    7. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable              worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged,              and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to              defend, protect, and value all human life. [Ps 139]

    8. We believe the Holy Spirit unites all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across race,                  gender and class differences, and that together they form one body, the church. This unity does not                  negate our creative distinctiveness as male or female, but underscores our oneness with God’s family as          unique children. [Romans 3:24; 5:15 – 21; 12:5; 1 Corinthians 1:2; 5:19; 15:22b; 2 Corinthians 5:17;                        Galatians 1:22; 2:17; 3:28; Ephesians 1:4; 2:12; 3:6; 4:32; 2 Timothy 2:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:16]

    9. We believe that God created every person in His own image as male or female. This sexual distinction              and complementarity establish a normative connection between biological sex and gender. The fall of              mankind has corrupted this order and has brought about brokenness and confusion regarding gender              issues. The Bible continues to affirm the sanctity of one’s biological sex. Because of this reality, the Bible          affirms that marriage is exclusively between one man and one woman for life. Marriage is thus the only              proper context for sexual desire and behavior. [Genesis 1:26 – 27; 3:1 – 7; Romans 3:9 – 18; 5:12 – 17;                Mark 10:1 – 8]
